A Day of Welcome

A Day of Welcome

At the beginning of the Autumn term we had 'A Day of Welcome' which was a day where we focused on welcoming the children into our class and thinking about how people feel on their first day of school or a new job. We discussed positive affirmations that might help us and created positivity pebbles to welcome our F2 children into the school.

In the afternoon, Thumbs Up worked with each class for half an hour. Discussing emotions and feelings and strategies to support them when in new situations. Sue and Cathy introduced the children to Bounce Back Ability, this is being able to recover quickly from a set back. The children would bounce the ball and say 'however' thinking of something positive instead of negative. This is something that you can use at home and we will be reinforcing in school.
